About the practice

What is BioPsyche Psychology Practice?

BioPsyche is a private psychology practice in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, run by a registered psychologist with over 25 years of experience. The practice specialises in occupational psychological harm — burnout, moral injury, workplace trauma and work-related stress — and also supports adults with anxiety, depression, menopause-related changes and identity concerns. The approach throughout is neuro-informed, soul-conscious, and heart-centred.

Who is the psychologist at BioPsyche?

BioPsyche is run by Suzanne Robertson, a registered psychologist with over 25 years of clinical experience across private practice, employee assistance programs (EAP), employment and work rehabilitation, and disability services. She also holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, which brings a deep understanding of the biological side of mental health into her practice, and is a Board-Approved Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia.

What makes BioPsyche different from other psychology practices?

Two things. First, the focus: BioPsyche specialises in psychological harm caused by work — burnout, moral injury, workplace trauma and chronic occupational stress — and Suzanne has spent 25 years inside the systems involved, from workplace rehabilitation to EAP to psychological injury. Second, the approach: genuinely holistic and neuro-informed, recognising the connection between mind, body and lived experience. Safety before change, regulation before insight, compassion before correction.

Services & bookings

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

No — you can book directly, no referral needed. A referral matters only for rebates: with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan you receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. WorkCover, insurer and NDIS arrangements have their own referral pathways.

How do I book an appointment?

The easiest way is online booking — you’ll see available times and can request one that suits. You can also email admin@biopsyche.com.au or call 0456 975 948. You don’t need to have things figured out before you come; one appointment is just a conversation.

What does a session cost?

A standard 50-minute session is $185, with a Medicare rebate of $98.97 if you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (rebates are indexed each July). WorkCover and insurer-funded sessions are billed at the insurer’s scheduled rate. Full details on the Fees & Rebates page.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about understanding where things are at and what your nervous system can actually use right now — not about re-telling everything that happened. We go at your pace. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what you’re dealing with and a sense of the path forward.

Work-related concerns

I’m struggling because of work, but I don’t have a WorkCover claim. Can I still come?

Yes — and this matters: you do not need a claim, a diagnosis, or a crisis for work-related distress to be real or worth treating. Most people I see with occupational psychological harm never lodge a claim. The work we do is the same either way.

Do you accept WorkCover and insurer referrals?

Yes. I accept WorkCover Queensland, self-insurer and income-protection referrals, and I’m familiar with their reporting requirements from 25 years in workplace rehabilitation and psychological injury. GPs and rehabilitation providers can find practical details on the referrer page.

I’m a health professional myself. Can I see you confidentially?

Yes. Nurses, doctors, psychologists, teachers and other helping professionals make up much of my practice — the people who hold everyone else together are exposed to the same harms, plus a few of their own, including moral injury. Sessions are confidential in the usual way, and telehealth means you can work with a psychologist outside your own professional community. If you’re unsure whether you need therapy or supervision, I’m happy to help you work out which door is yours.

Practical details

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes — phone and video appointments Australia-wide, with the same Medicare rebates as in-person sessions where a Mental Health Treatment Plan is in place.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations or rescheduling require at least 48 hours’ notice. Late cancellations and non-attendance may incur a fee, with exceptions for emergencies and unforeseen circumstances — life happens, and the policy knows that.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you discuss in session stays between us, with the standard legal exceptions every Australian psychologist works under (serious risk of harm, court subpoena, or your written consent to share — for example, progress letters to your GP). If you have questions about how confidentiality works with WorkCover or insurer-funded sessions, ask at your first appointment — it’s a fair and common question.
