Assessments

Psychological assessment for adults, tailored to the question being asked.

Sometimes what is needed is not treatment but clarity: a careful, structured look at what is going on, why, and what would help. You do not need to be in therapy to have an assessment. It is its own pathway, and you keep the choice about what happens afterwards.

What assessment can help clarify

  • Diagnosis — whether a particular condition is present, and on what evidence.
  • Psychological functioning — how mood, anxiety, attention, regulation and coping are actually working in your life.
  • Neurodivergence — including ADHD and autism in adults, and how they interact with everything else.
  • Functional impact — what is affected at work, in study, in relationships and day to day, in terms that are useful to you and to the people who support you.
  • Treatment and support needs — what kind of help fits, and what adjustments are reasonable to ask for.
  • Complex or overlapping presentations — where several things may be true at once and the picture needs untangling before anyone can plan well.

I do not publish a catalogue of tests. The measures used depend on the question, and they support clinical judgement rather than replace it.

Adult ADHD Diagnostic Assessment

A comprehensive telehealth diagnostic assessment for adults who think they may have ADHD, consistent with current Australian clinical guidance — structured clinical assessment, standardised measures, information from other sources where possible, careful consideration of other explanations, a feedback session and a comprehensive written report.

$1,250 including the report. Payment can be made in stages across the assessment process; you do not need to pay the full fee upfront.

Other assessments

Adult autism assessment is available within my competence and scope. If you are seeking an autism assessment — or you suspect ADHD and autism may both be part of the picture — please enquire and I will explain what is involved and whether I am the right person to assess you.

Other psychological assessment — to answer a specific clinical, workplace or referral question — is available by enquiry, depending on the question and whether it falls within my competence and scope. Process and fee are discussed before anything begins.

Practical

  • Format. Assessment appointments are by secure video. The same standards apply as for in-person assessment. If your circumstances suggest that telehealth assessment is not the right approach, or that a different kind of assessment is needed, I will say so and we can talk about options.
  • Funding. Assessments are privately funded. Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Treatment Plan do not cover assessment.
  • Cancellation. Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule any assessment appointment.

Assessment and therapy are separate

You can have an assessment without therapy, and therapy without an assessment. If, after the assessment, you would like support with what it found, we can talk about therapy with me or a referral elsewhere — your choice.

Enquire about an assessment. If you are unsure which assessment you need — or whether BioPsyche offers the assessment you are looking for — you are welcome to get in touch and ask.

Or email admin@biopsyche.com.au

Not sure which of these is yours? The FAQs explain the difference between therapy, assessment, professional consultation and supervision — or email me and I will point you to the right door.
