Psychological Therapy

Assessment and treatment of psychological difficulties — collaborative, practical and evidence-based.

I work with adults across Australia by secure video or phone. Much of my practice is with people whose work has harmed them — burnout, moral injury, bullying, workplace trauma, and the long recovery that can follow a psychological injury. I also work with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety and depression, neurodivergence, chronic illness, and significant life adjustment.

How I work

My approach is collaborative and practical. What we focus on, and how we approach it, depends on what has happened, what you are dealing with now, and what you need from therapy. Sessions are steady, and we go at a pace that works for you.

The approaches I draw on include EMDR, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and strengths-based approaches — selected according to your needs. My background in biomedical science also informs the way I think about the connections between psychological health, physical health and stress.

What the first session is like

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin making sense of what has brought you to therapy. You don’t need to arrive with everything worked out, or know where to begin. We can start with what feels most important to you and take things from there.

I’ll ask questions to help me understand what has been happening, how things are affecting you now, and what you would like help with. There is no expectation that you tell me everything in the first session. We will work together to decide what would be most helpful from here.

Practical

  • Sessions are 50 minutes, by secure video or phone, wherever you are in Australia.
  • Fee $195. With a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, Medicare rebates $101.55 per session for up to 10 sessions a calendar year.
  • Funded appointments. WorkCover Queensland; other insurer-funded psychological services where approved; DVA; NDIS (self- and plan-managed); EAP and other third-party funded services by arrangement. Details on the Fees page.
  • No referral needed to book privately. Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.

Other ways to work with me

Not sure which of these is yours? The FAQs explain the difference between therapy, assessment, professional consultation and supervision — or email me and I will point you to the right door.
